A few weeks ago I discussed that I've discussed a new hobby of sorts: skincare. While I follow a 10-step routine, my morning skincare routine has 5 to 6 steps depending on the day. Here are my favorite products for each one of those steps.
Morning Skincare Routine
I like to use a gentle cleanser in the morning. I usually use the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser or one of the cleanser bars by Drunk Elephant (e.g., Juju Bar or Pekee Bar). After massaging them into my skin I always remove with a clean washcloth (not just splashing with water).
+ Physical Exfoliant.
While I prefer to make my own, I also really like the Fresh Face Polish. You scrub it on, let it sit for 5-10 minutes, and remove with a washcloth. It's heavenly.
+ Serum: Vitamin C.
I used Ole Hendricksen’s Truth Serum for years but recently switched to Drunk Elephant’s C-Firma and I think that I’m in love. The smell seems to bother some people but it is fine for me.
+ Eye Treatment (as needed).
Didn’t get much sleep? Or maybe you had one too many drinks the night before? If that ever happens to me, I reach of ray patchology Flash Patch eye gels for a quick refresh. Pro Tip: keep these bad boys in the refrigerator to keep them nice and cool.
I have extreme combination skin, meaning that I’ve very oily in my t-zone but super dry on my cheeks, chin, and jawline. This makes moistening kind of difficult but I’ve finally found my jam. I use Drunk Elephant’s B-Hydra Gel (http://shopstyle.it/l/hdw9) all over my face and follow it up with the Glossier Priming Moisturizer on my dry spots.
In case you haven’t noticed, I have darker skin, which means that physical sunscreens are a no-go with me (No, I don’t want to walk around in white face all day, thank you very much). Instead, I need a chemical sunscreen. Lately, I’ve been using the Day-Light Protection Sun Screen (SPF 50 PA+++) from the Korean brand Neogen Dermalogy. It’s super lightweight and doesn’t leave any sort of white-cast.
