Travel-Inspired Home Office

Travel Inspired Home Office

A couple of weeks months ago I shared 8 home offices that I dream of. And while I love the simplicity of the designs, I would love to add a bit more flair. I think that a travel-inspired theme seems fitting. We already have a couple of maps and a few globe bookends but I would love to add more with time (starting with the above items).

I'm having trouble, however, finding travel-inspired home office decor. I would love to treat myself to an office makeover but I'm not sure where to start. Evening finding the items above was difficult! Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can find travel-inspired home office decor?

Do any of the rooms in your house have a decor theme?

  • Thanks for hosting!

  • hmm… I think you’ll have to get creative. my office is kindof travel-themed, but more like it showcases a lot of my souvenirs and photos from traveling. my curtains are sarongs I got in thailand and I have a wall of mini-polaroids, plus things on walls and shelves from China, Hong Kong, Bali, and even the states. if I had another blank wall I’d love to have a giant world map :)

    • The mini polaroids! I love those too and can’t wait to hang them in my someday office.

    • ooh, mini polariods? that sounds awesome! I’ll have to add that to the list of potential decorations

  • There are so many good links this week already! Can’t wait to check out some of the date ideas and recipes. For your office, do you want it to be generally travel-themed, or is what you really want a place to celebrate your personal travels–where you’ve been and where you want to go?

    • hmm, good question. The more I think about it the more I want it to reflect some places that I’ve been (only a little bit of it though) and places that I hope to go in the future.

  • I did a stationary wishlist with an international theme. Maybe some things you might like there: http://www.withoutastyle.com/2013/10/stationary-wishlist-international.html

Or just go to a World Market?

  • Are you signed up for any of the home decor email lists? One Kings Lane, Wayfair, Joss and Main, etc? They’ve always got some sort of unique sale going on, I definitely think you could find these items on one of their sites.

  • Here is an idea for you : what if you got a big cool map and put on your wall as sort of a ‘center piece’. Another thing that I do and LOVE is that I have a polarid Instax camera. They are about $59 at Walmart. If you travel somewhere special you could take the polaroid and then start putting them on your wall in a ‘crafty way’. I don’t have an office but when I do I bet I’ll be using those polaroids into my decor. =)

Thanks again for hosting this fun link-up. It’s always great to meet new bloggers this way.

I love this idea! I’m actually in the process of re-doing rooms. I might copy this! Thanks! Tammy

  • Sounds like a great idea. Having travel pictures in my office would make me want to work even less…oh, wait… :)

Kidding. I actually had my workspace designed like this in college and loved it. I had pictures from places that I’d traveled, but I put them in matching frames and made them all black and white to give some uniformity to the room. That space kept all of my best memories!

  • I think a travel inspired office is a great idea! I’m planning on adding a few travel inspired flairs to our office space when we get home! I’ll keep my eye out for any great decor and let you know if I find some great pieces!

  • ooh globe bookends. that sounds lovely. i’ve been eyeing that cork board for a year now… man.. should i get it now? i kind of want to know i’ll be staying in a place for more than a year before i add to my stuff.

  • Yes, yes, yes and three more yeses! I want all those things! :) Have you tried World Market? They have some pretty nifty global decor items. I wanted to do my wedding registry there but they don’t offer that. Boo!
