Britney Spears Las Vegas Piece of Me Tour

Britney Spears Las Vegas Piece of Me Residency, Planet Hollywood

I know that she's a little bit on the crazy side, but I love Britney Spears. I just can't help it. So I obviously had to make a trip out to Las Vegas to see her Piece of Me residency at Planet Hollywood. This weekend was my 5th time seeing Brit Brit and it was sadly my least favorite time seeing her (hell, I even liked her 12-minute, 5 song performance at the House of Blues under the name M&M better …. and yes, I paid $25 to watch Britney Spears lip-sync for 12 minutes). To be fair Esther tried to warn me (and shared her own recap of the concert, with better photos), but I was too excited to see the Queen of Pop to heed her warnings.

Britney Spears Las Vegas Piece of Me Show

True Britney fans know that she never actually sings at her concert and we're okay with it. We've also memorized the following phrase and say it whenever someone questions us: “Britney is a performer. She's an entertainer.”

As much as it pains me to say it, she wasn't much of a performer or entertainer during her Las Vegas show.

Bummer

  • She spent most of the time prancing walking around the stage waving her arms in the air. She was seriously all arms. It was like she was afraid of tripping.
  • The first three songs of the show, Work Bitch, Womanizer, and 3, were probably my least favorite of the show. The energy was low, the choreography was simple, and the costumes were subpar.
  • She had pretty much zero interaction with the audience. I wanted her to love that we were there supporting us but instead she just pranced around some more
  • Clips of old music videos were shown during one of the costume changes. While I loved seeing how fab she once was, I was sadly reminded of how fab she once was compared to present day

Queen of Pop

  • Brit Brit showed a little life during some of her songs, including “Do Something'”, “Circus”, and “Till The World Ends”. The best performance, however, was during “Stronger”. It could have something to do with the fact that she broke up with her boyfriend two days before the show…
  • She performed over 20 songs and there were a ton of other songs that fans were dying to hear. Overprotected, If U Seek Amy, and Outrageous were all missed!
  • Her backup dancers were on point. Pretty damn good!

Although I did hear that it was better than her Femme Fatale tour.

  • that’s a bummer the concert was a disappointment… I feel like after all these years Brit is probably tired of performing, and staying in one place all the time would get boring. the best concerts I’ve been to were back when the bands were still “young” and not super famous [with the exception of Iron Maiden. Bruce Dickinson will be amazing until he’s dead, and probably for a while after.]

also, yay for being most viewed! happy thursday :)

  • That sucks that it didn’t live up to what you were hoping. Sometimes things are just off – plus I think it’s SO hard to see how she use to be compared to now… it’s just so different that it’s hard not to want the old Brit! I saw here before she was even famous as the opener for insync at this small (not like bar small but like not colliseum huge!) and she wore a pink, furry jump suit. I’ll never forget it!

  • *sigh.. I really wanted to like the show!! BUT if you paid close attention.. I have no idea why she would be afraid of tripping because she was not wearing heels most the time. no excuses if you’re in flats!

  • I am totally jealous!!! I love Britney…I admit it. I have since I loved Nsync LOL

  • “I hate how much I love her.” Hahah! I say that about a lot of things. Oops :p

  • I am sorry to hear that it wasn’t the performance you were expecting. I’ve never seen her perform and I didn’t realize that Britney didn’t really sing much at her concerts – you’d think she’d at least interact with the audience!

  • SO crazy- I literally just got home from dinner with my bff – she saw Brit in Vegas too last week and said the same things – like exactly what you said. Lots of arm waving. She thought maybe she was just having an off night… sounds like maybe Brit needs a super long vacay!

i am a fan, but i seriously lost interest with her recently. but i do still fangirl when I listen to her first 2 albums. hahaha… i have never seen her live, but maybe i should. hm.

  • That’s awesome that you love Britney and at least you got to see her at her prime. This was my first time seeing her perform live so you can tell how disappointed I was. I felt like she was just there for the money and not her fan, sadly. *sigh.

  • I wish I could have seen Britney back in the day when she was on top. But I would still love to see her now even if it would be sub par!

  • This is the most awesome thing ever!! I love Britney too! I would have loved to have seen her perform back in the day and I was so sad we missed her when we were in Vegas.

  • Blaire Bingham

Awww. Poor Brittney. That makes me really sad that the show wasn’t that great. I’ve always loved her and her music. Still looks like you had a great time!

  • I love Britney too! I’ve never seen her perform sadly, from the sounds of this tour it might actually ruin her for me!

  • I’m so surprised she wasn’t more interactive! I would love to see her perform.

  • I am glad you got to go to the show. Now I don’t have to!! haha!! :)

  • I hate how much I love her too. But you reminded me to listen to her all morning, and now my day is great!

  • TheSubtleHipster

Exciting that you got to see her!! Poor thing is probably just exhausted and a heartbreak can take a lot of out of your energy.

  • It’s kind of a bummer that it wasn’t totally and completely amazing. I’m not a fan per se but I do like her and I want her to do well. I have heard other people say the show is amazing so I guess it all just depends on your perspective like anything else.

  • I LOVE Britney! I’m kicking myself for not going to see her while she was in her prime!

  • Alyson

I LOVE Britney too and sometimes hate myself for it! BUT then I listen to her music and am quickly reminded why and then forgive myself for it. Sorry to hear her performance was sub par. Bummer!

  • I’m glad she showed some life during Stronger! I think that’s one of her strongest songs, too ;) even though she pranced too much (haha) it sounds like you had a great time!! Woo Vegas! :)

  • Tina

Sorry to hear the show wasn’t that fab. I’m guessing you had a fab time nonetheless. :) Thanks for hosting this link-up! T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com

I am also a bit ashamed to admit how much I love Britney! I know it’s bad, but it’s a guilty pleasure. It’s exciting that you got to see her in Vegas, even if the concert had some flaws. I was hoping to go this winter to see the show if I get a chance. Thanks for hosting the link up!

  • I saw her during the Circus tour and it was absolutely PHENOMENAL! But I’ve heard she SUX live lately. And by live I mean like you said… dancing/entertaining – not singing, obvs, hahaha

  • RedTagChicLA

I will always love her no matter what…..thanks for sharing this phenomenal experience!!!

I will always be a Britney girl even if she’s no longer a top dancer! Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

  • This post has me cracking up. I am not a Britney lover (gasp, I know) but I’m not a hater. I don’t have any feelings, that’s okay right? Anyway, I did spend a lot of Friday night at Korean Norebong belting out more than one Britney song! So much fun! But boo that the concert wasn’t up to expectations. I hate when that happens. It doesn’t happen often, luckily, but when I spend money and take time to travel to see someone perform, it’s really disappointing when they don’t deliver! At least you have other experiences in memory that were better!
