6 New Fall TV Shows To Watch

6 New Fall TV Shows

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'm a TV junkie. And while I'll miss the summer months, September means premiere season! In addition to my usual favorites (The Mindy Project, Modern Family, Parks & Rec, Scandal, Parenthood, etc.), I'm excited for these 6 new fall TV shows.

6 New Fall TV Shows To Watch

Marry Me

This show had me at Casey Wilson (I'm still so bitter that Happy Endings was canceled). ABC, Tuesday at 9.

I hate how much I liked the pilot. The centers upon a woman who is too caught up in social media to function in every day life. The best thing about this show, however, is that it stars John Cho, one of the few Asian American actors in a leading role. ABC, Tuesdays at 8.

I'm such a sucker for crime shows so it is no surprise that I'm excited for Forever. Ioan Gruffudd plays a medical examiner with a major secret: he's immortal. I actually really enjoyed the pilot (available online now). ABC, Tuesdays at 10pm.

How To Get Away With Murder

Like I need another Shonda Rhimes addiction. Is it sad that I'm mostly excited to see Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas in Harry Potter) in something new? ABC, Thursdays at 10.

I'm in for anything Laurence Fishburne is in / produces. The line about the “mythical and majestic Black family” in the trailer just about killed me (in a wonderful way). I've heard that Black-ish is a mix between Modern Family & The Cosby Show … I'm not entirely sure of what that means but I assume that is an easy way of saying a Black version of Modern Family and I'm okay with that. ABC, Wednesdays at 9:30.

I haven't been this excited about a new show in a long time. I not-so-secretly love everything about Batman (Batman Begins is easily one of my favorite movies), so I'm beyond excited for this new show. It honestly cannot come soon enough. And apparently, I'm not the only one excited: The Television Critics Association named Gotham the most promising new fall series. FOX, Mondays at 8.

Which new fall TV show are you most excited about?

  • Welcome to Sweden is definite expat TV show of the year! I have a post on it here:

  • Excellent picks!! I tried to pick one I like more than the other, but they all sound like awesome shows! Although Dean Thomas is winning my heart haha I’m also kind of excited about Scorpion – the premise sounds interesting! And also interested by Katherine Heigl’s return to tv!

  • Hmm, I may have to check out Forever … I rarely meet a crime show I don’t enjoy. :)

  • RedTagChicLA

Yeah Fall TV is what excites me most about Fall!! I can’t wait to see Forever & How to Get Away & see the return of Scandal, TWD and Revenge!

  • this makes me sad I don’t have American tv :/ I haven’t even heard about Gotham but I’m a secret Batman lover as well. thankfully some of the more established shows let you buy a season pass for Apple TV [ahem, Parks and Rec] we have to wait for a lot of things and then just watch the whole season in a few days. our latest tv season binge was True Detective… totally amazing in a dark and twisty way.

    • Yes but you have UK X Factor Jamie!! There are seriously a lot of shows that I am surprised that I miss from my time in England.

I’ve heard a lot about True Detective. Where do you watch it? Is it HBO? Or online?…

    • I seriously need to start watching True Detective. I’ve heard nothing but great things about it!

  • I’ve haven’t heard a peep about any of these new shows so it’ll be exciting to see which ones eventually make their way over here! x

  • I can’t wait for the shows to come back this fall! I will have to check some of these out.

  • Whitney

I LOVE September for the sole reason that it’s Premier month! I am kinda a freak about it and have been stalking the new shows for a while now. I can’t wait for Gothem!

    great post, love the previews!

    Whitney & Blaire

    Peaches In A Pod

  • Gotham looks really good! We don’t watch much TV but I may have to check that one out!

  • TheSubtleHipster

I cannot wait for Gotham! I am a Batman fanatic so this just makes me happy.

  • Oooooh, Forever sounds good. I’m always excited for the return of Suits (love me a bit of Harvey). Although I think they skip fall and do late winter and summer. Which is fine for me because I like to spread out my shows. I can only watch so many at one time. My DVR is full.

  • Marry Me looks hilarious!

  • Kristen Warren

I can’t wait for Selfie – purely for Karen Gillan!

  • I’m looking forward to Forever- the tv ad for it really grabbed me, I’m excited for it to start. Will probably end up watching Gotham too- I was such a fan of Smallville and it seems like it will be a decent replacement.

  • Ooh i’m excited about all these shows coming out. We haven’t figured out what we want to add to our current shows but Gotham sounds interesting to me. :)

  • I haven’t even heard of any of these shows! Clearly I’ve been living under a rock. ALSO, have you seen ‘Newsroom’? It’s my new obsession and even though it’s not new, I just heard of it!

  • I’m soooo excited about Gotham! My husband and I are both huge comic book dorks so we can’t wait to see this one!

  • Mar

    Pretty pumped for Gotham!

  • I love fall TV! It’s the best!

  • Yes to all those tv shows – I have a list of things I am going to watch! I watched the Forever plot and love it and anything from Shondaland gets my vote!

  • oh man. I am so excited to finally be on the same timezones as all of these new shows – it’s a weird thing to be excited about, I’m aware. by the way, Mindy tomorrow – can we get a *high five*?!

  • ‘Gotham’ looks great, I can’t wait for it to start either!

  • I feel like we have very similar TV watching tastes (and pop music: hey Britney!). I feel the same as you with Selfie– I didn’t want to watch, but I did and really liked it. And I am looking forward to Black-ish as well, and will probably watch Gotham, too.
