Happy 30th birthday, Matt! If you follow me on instagram, you probably saw a couple of updates this weekend from the birthday party I threw for Matt this weekend. And by “I threw” I mean me plus our amazing roommate and all of his close friends. And although I could never outdo the fantastic surprise birthday that Matt threw for my 26th, I do think that it was a success.
The theme? Speakeasy Party / Roaring 20s into Rocking 30s. Password? Dirty Thirty.
The day before the party our roommate, friend Mo, and I got together for a little crafternoon. The three of us (THANK YOU LADIES!) made some 20′s inspired decorations and signs to hang up around the house to turn it into a speakeasy. Beads, feathers and fringe were everywhere. Place cards for the food and drinks included 20′s lingo. Our awesome friend brought his DJ equipment and played music from the era. Charlie Chaplin’s entire collection of silent movies was projected on a wall in our living room (brilliant idea, Mo!). And almost everyone who showed up to the party ended up dressing to fit the theme, which was incredible. I didn’t take nearly enough pictures but I like to think that is a sign of having too much fun.
Overall, I think that it was a very successful party! A huge thank you to all of our friends that helped make it so amazing. And Matt – 30 looks good on you! Have you been to a speakeasy party / roaring 20′s party before? I’m interested to hear your thoughts or experiences!
